Originally, as per historical records, India was celebrating Children’s Day on the 20^th of November to put it precisely. November 20^th was observed as the International Children’s Day by the United Nations.

It was after the death of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in the year 1964 that his birth anniversary is observed as Children’s Day in India. In consideration of his popularity among the children, a resolution was passed in the parliament to celebrate Children’s Day in India in his honour on his birth anniversary. So, this is why Children’s Day is celebrated in India on 14^th November every year to put it precisely.
