14^th November is marked as Children’s Day in India. It is also called ‘’Bal Divas’’ and is celebrated as a tribute to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary. He was the first Prime Minister of independent India who was known for his special fondness for children. Originally, Children’s Day was celebrated on 20^th November. It is a day that is recognized by the United Nations as International Children’s Day. However, if we brush up a little of Indian history, we will find that after Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s death in 1964, his birthday has been celebrated as Children’s Day in India on 14^th November.
